Communication endpoint that maps to a specific process or network service.

• Every port that is open to the internet could be a potential vulnerability. You want to open the minimum amount of ports.
• We can also use nmap to scan ports.

Common Network Ports and Protocols

• Ports 20 and 21: FTP
• Port 22: SSH
• Port 25: SMTP
• Port 53: DNS
• Port 80: HTTP
• Port 110: POP3
• Port 143: IMAP
• Port 443: HTTPS
